I’ve come to the conclusion it’s not pessimistic to assume that people aren’t good-natured prior to getting to know them, it’s rational. Most people are terribly selfish, sneaky, disheartening and I don’t have any ambition to even remotely place my faith in them and it terrifies me when people I care about do.
